The Craft

formed by hand. finished to glass. made to hold.

The Base

Every Domus Noctis tile begins the same way — a white ceramic surface, 150 × 150mm, coated by hand in a deep black base.

This is the foundation. The canvas from which everything is drawn. Nothing is applied to bare ceramic. The black base is laid first, with intention, before a single mark of the design is made.

The Design

Once the design has been finalised, it is applied to the tile by hand. Every line, every form, every tonal value is considered before the work begins.

The precision you see in every Domus Noctis tile is achieved through a proprietary process — sharp, clean, and permanent from the first mark to the last.

Where precision is demanded, it is delivered without compromise. Nothing is accidental. Nothing is approximate.

This is where the image begins to breathe.

The Depth

With the design locked, airbrushing begins. This is where the tile moves from image to presence.

Shadow is built slowly. Tone is layered. Depth that the eye reads as dimension is constructed pass by pass, each one adding nuance to the last.

No two tiles leave this stage identically — the hand that holds the airbrush makes decisions that no machine can replicate.

Shadow

The Finish

A gloss protective coat is applied across the entire surface. Then the sanding begins.

Every tile is sanded entirely by hand through a sequence of high-grade wet and dry paper — starting at 1000 grit and working through to 3000 grit. For the most complex designs, a second protective coat is applied and the process is repeated before any polishing begins.

This is the stage that separates Domus Noctis from every other tile on the market. At 3000 grit the surface approaches the smoothness of optical glass. It takes time. It cannot be rushed. It cannot be done by machine without losing what makes it worth doing.

The Standard

Once fully cured, each tile is buffed entirely by hand to a glass finish.

Every tile that leaves our workshop has been touched at every stage by the same hands. There are no shortcuts in this process because there are no shortcuts in the standard we hold ourselves to.

Should a tile ever be scratched after installation, Domus Noctis offers a restoration service attended at your property. The finish that left our workshop can be returned to — because we know exactly how it was achieved.

This is not decoration. This is craft.

Shadow

The Tile

Placed alone, a Domus Noctis tile becomes an artefact. Placed together, a wall becomes a story.

Every stage of this process exists for one purpose — to create something that earns its place in a room that deserves more than compromise.
